Memberships

You can create a new membership from Admin > Commerce > Products. Click the +Add button, then choose Membership from the Category dropdown menu:

Expiration Dates

Memberships can have two types of expiration dates, fixed and duration-based.

Duration-based memberships cause a timer to start with the selected duration as soon as the membership is purchased. Once this duration runs out, the membership is considered expired. For example, a 1-year membership purchased on April 28, 2021 will expire on April 28, 2022.

Fixed expiration memberships expire on the selected date of the current year, with one exception: if the membership is purchased in the same month as the expiration date, the expiration will extend into the next year.

A 1-year membership with a fixed expiration of April 30, 2021 will expire on April 30, 2022, if it is purchased any time in the month of April 2021.

However, a 1-year membership with a fixed expiration of May 1, 2021 will expire on May 1, 2021, even if it is purchased on April 30, 2021.

Membership Tiers

Membership Tiers are useful if you require players to have at least one out of a number of acceptable memberships. For example, your event(s) might require players have either an Adult Membership or a Youth membership. You can assign both of those membership products to a Gold tier, then make the event(s) require a Gold-tier membership.

To create Membership Tiers, either edit your organization's current membership product or create a new membership product. You will see an option to add Membership Tiers:

You can also view, edit, add and delete all your membership tiers through the interface at www.your.site/admin/membership-tiers - just replace www.your.site with your domain name.

Once you've added Membership Tiers to your membership, you will see those Tiers as event requirement options (e.g. only Bronze level members may participate in this event).

Alternatively (and perhaps more commonly), you can assign a Price Point to a specific Membership Tier. The "With Membership Tier" box will appear once you've selected a Membership. For example, an admin could make an event free for Gold members and half-price for Silver members - all other registrants would be charged the full price.

Note that you will likely want to create separate Membership products for each Membership Tier.
