The convenience of text messaging is now available on the TopScore platform. In situations where you need to quickly contact players or organizers with pertinent information, you can send text messages instead of emails, utilizing the most direct form of written communication. If you have already used message lists on your site, then sending a text to a group will be even easier. It utilizes the same processes as sending an email message list.

Once you decide what group of people or person you are sending the message to, click the Message button at the top of the page. In this example, I am using the ‘Registrants’ page to create my list.

From here, a pop-up window will appear. This is where you compose your message. To switch the messaging mode from email to text, click the Text tab at the top of the pop-up window.

Compose your message, then hit Text

An important factor in making text messaging work to its highest potential is making sure your users are providing a phone number in their profiles. A good way to capture this information is as a data collection point in your next event. Require that people provide a phone number, and check the box that says “can receive texts”.

If you send a text message to a group of users and only some have a phone number provided, the system will send a text to those that do have a number in their profile and an email to those that do not.
